Hail to the Chief
(deutsch etwa „Gruß dem Anführer“; "Chief" ist u. a. die
im Amerikanischen übliche Bezeichnung für die Häuptlinge
von Indianerstämmen) ist der offizielle Präsidialsalut
für den Präsidenten der Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika,
der ihn bei fast allen öffentlichen Auftritten
begleitet. Vorher werden für den Präsidenten vier
Trommelwirbel und Fanfaren (ruffles and flourishes)
gespielt.
Der Text stammt von Albert Gamse. Er wird nur selten
gesungen.
Hail to the Chief we have chosen for the nation,
